Azure Infrastructure and Database Architect

Employment Type: Full-time

We are actively seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Infrastructure & Database Architect to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Azure Compute, Networking, and SQL Server solutions across multiple product lines. This role requires a Boston-area professional who is comfortable working in a hybrid model with onsite presence 2-3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement robust cloud solutions, including migration and integration of on-prem infrastructure with Azure.
• Architect and manage Azure SQL Database, Managed Instances, and SQL Server on Azure VMs.
• Enhance query performance, indexing strategies, partitioning, and caching.
• Develop and manage Azure Virtual Networks (VNETs), Subnets, Network Security Groups (NSGs), Application Security Groups (ASGs), and Private Link/Endpoints.
• Administer and maintain Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), including user provisioning, access management, and security policies.
• Configure and support Single Sign-On (SSO) with OAuth, SAML, and OpenID Connect.
• Serve as the liaison between DBA, engineering, data, and IT teams to ensure effective communication on database-related priorities.
• Lead Disaster Recovery Planning and testing to safeguard business operations.
• Provide tier 2 support, assisting with customer inquiries and technical requests.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in Azure Cloud Infrastructure and Database Architecture.
• Proven expertise in SQL Server and/or Oracle databases, including maintaining and tuning large data sets.
• Experience with traditional RDBMs (SQL Server, Oracle) and cloud-native databases (Snowflake, Synapse) (preferred).
• Background in SaaS or service-oriented environments with frequently shifting priorities.

Preferred Skills:

• Strong foundation in both Systems/Network Engineering and Database Administration.
• Familiarity with DevOps principles and technologies.
• Expertise in Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) administration and IAM.
• Knowledge of Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and security best practices.
• Experience in SaaS environments requiring 24/7 uptime.
• Leadership experience as a team lead or supervisor.
• Proven ability to manage customer expectations while delivering high-quality solutions.
• Proficiency in Procedural SQL (Transact SQL, PLSQL, SQLPL).
• Understanding of Zero Trust frameworks and cloud compliance standards.
