Job summary

econsulting is seeking a senior data architect to take over an existing Azure data platform, bring structure, and design its target architecture, including support for GenAI-based solutions. The role suits someone who enjoys getting up to speed quickly in a new environment, providing teams with concrete guidance, and thinking long-term.

You will assess the current platform, create architecture documentation, design the data layer for GenAI apps (RAG, embeddings, vector search), and recommend

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Proven hands-on Azure data architecture with Cosmos DB, Synapse, and production RAG/agentic solutions.
• Deep Cosmos DB expertise: data modeling, partition keys, RU/cost optimization, scaling, Change Feed.
• At least one production RAG or agentic project with ownership of the data layer (embeddings, chunking, vector search).
• Hands-on Synapse experience (Pipelines, Spark, Serverless and Dedicated SQL pools).
• Experience with Databricks, SQL Managed Instance / T-SQL, ADLS / Lakehouse architecture, and Azure Functions.

Responsibilities

• Assess the current Azure data platform and prepare a roadmap, separating quick wins from the target architecture.
• Create architecture documentation and diagrams for engineering teams to start implementing within weeks.
• Design the data layer for GenAI applications (RAG and agentic solutions) using Cosmos DB.
• Design flexible, metadata-driven ingestion supporting multiple sources, including documents and unstructured data.
• Recommend tooling (Databricks, Synapse, Azure Data Factory) based on project needs.
