Job summary

FM Industries is seeking an experienced HVAC and Chiller Technician II to perform full-cycle maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on process chillers in a manufacturing setting. The role also services HVAC equipment across the Phoenix area facilities.

Required 5+ years of HVAC experience, accreditation in HVAC training, and strong communication skills. Semiconductor or industrial manufacturing knowledge is a plus.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on high precision process chillers.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair all general HVAC equipment.
  • Diagnose issues using specialized tools for industrial chillers (temperatures, flow, pressures).
  • Ensure cooling systems follow safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Create a spare parts list for industrial chillers and HVAC equipment.
  • Update inventory and maintain logbooks and manuals.
  • Document repairs and generate reports for future reference.
  • Mentor Level I technicians in HVAC and chiller repair.

DESCRIPTION:

The Advance HVAC and Chiller Technician is responsible for a full-cycle maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs equipment chillers used in the manufacturing process. This position will also be responsible to service and repairing HVAC equipment across the phoenix area facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on high precision process chillers.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair all general HVAC equipment.
  • Utilize specialized tools and knowledge to diagnose issues unique to industrial chillers, such as precise fluid temperatures, flow rates, and critical pressure limits.
  • Ensure all cooling system operations adhere to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and specific industrial process quality standards.
  • Responsible in creating a comprehensive spare part list for all industrial chillers and HVAC equipment.
  • Maintain, track, update the inventory list, ensuring critical spare parts are stocked to minimize downtime and prevent delays in the process.
  • Maintain detailed service logs, repairs history, and equipment manuals.
  • Create reports of repairs including cause and solution for future reference.
  • Mentor level I technicians on how to diagnose and repair HVAC and chiller equipment.
  • Help troubleshoot and diagnose failures on other related equipment such as Boilers systems.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND REGISTRATION:

  • Accredited HVAC training certification.
  • NATE certification highly preferred

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma, GED.
  • 5+ years as an HVAC Technician
  • Semiconductor industry experience/knowledge desired; however, other industrial manufacturing experience considered.
  • Deep knowledge of HVAC and chiller equipment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB:

  • Standing for extended periods of time, sitting or standing, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, or bending to the floor; use hands to finger, handle or feel parts and materials; reach with hands and arms and overhead; and talk and/or hear instructions and equipment sounds.
  • Occasionally lifting and/or moving items up to 40 pounds.
  • Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Near acuity or accommodation required for reading instrumentation and documentation, dial and digital gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to handle delicate parts.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT OF THE JOB:

  • Regularly exposed to moving equipment, mechanical parts, ovens, and risk of burns.
  • Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
  • High noise levels from operating machines.
  • The employee will be required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to hazardous materials commonly used in a manufacturing environment (i.e., safety glasses and shoes, gloves, ear plugs/covers, mask, cleanroom suit).
  • Physical hazards while working near moving equipment and mechanical parts.
  • Possible breathing of fumes, odors, dust, and mist.
