Title AY25-26 Graduate Assistant - Community Health Prevention, SVAS Program Assistant

Position Description

The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work 20 hours per week and receive up to 24 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 9 for fall, 9 for spring and 6 for summer.

Overview and Duties

The SVAS Center is seeking assistance with the overall functioning of the center. The SVASC Program Assistant (PA) will aid the center’s Assistant Director in overseeing the student employees, interns, and their projects while providing administrative support to the center.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • responding to emails
  • answering the phone
  • greeting walk-ins
  • providing information to the campus community
The PA will provide trauma-informed support and advocacy within the Center, assisting student survivors with referrals and resources.

Additionally, the PA will work to drive cultural change through creative means such as:
  • implementing awareness events and social norms campaigns
  • helping to manage the Center’s social media accounts

Students working in this capacity will gain skills relevant to helping professionals doing direct-service work and entry-level management.

  • Candidates must have excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills, and the ability to be a supportive and flexible team member.
  • Candidates must be dependable and punctual.
  • Candidates must possess a strong passion for violence prevention work.
  • Candidate must actively be pursuing a graduate level degree in counseling, psychology, social work, criminal justice, or another related field.
Physical Demands

Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 20 pounds.
