Title AY25-26 Graduate Assistant - Athletics and Recreation, Intramurals

Position Description

The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work 20 hours per week and receive up to 24 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 9 for fall, 9 for spring and 6 for summer.

Overview and Supervision Exercised
This position provides growth opportunity for a graduate student. The GA will have experience with social media, communication skills via email, social media platforms, etc,. They will work one on one with student-athletes to design and implement a robust intramural activity program for the general student body. They will learn how to be a professional in a very busy, student-facing environment.

May have the opportunity to supervise student employees, special event volunteers, or Exercise Science interns.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Design and play schedule of intramural programming through academic year
  • Input league information into intramurals scheduling software package.
  • Assist the Coordinator for Intramurals with the implementation of the day-to-day intramural activities
  • Assist in the selection, training and supervision of student referee staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Effective writing and communication skills, including social media
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various constituents and stakeholders to make an impact as a member of a team and diverse community
  • Ability to work evening, weekends, and holidays as playing and practice season schedule dictates.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. with appropriate accommodation

Preferred Qualifications
  • Extracurricular experience as an undergraduate student.
  • Leadership experience as an undergraduate student.
  • Ability to communicate successfully via email and social media.
  • Ability to work independently.
Physical Demands

Must be able to lift 25 pounds with support.
