AY24-25 Adjunct Faculty - English as a Second Language

Governors State University’s School of Extended Learning seeks to create a pool of Adjunct (Part-time) Faculty candidates to teach courses in English as a Second Language. Interested individuals are invited to complete a faculty profile, attach a curriculum vitae, and transcripts for consideration.

Adjuncts are hired on a course basis each term. Salary Range for adjuncts teaching in this area is $500.00 - $3,000.00 per course.

At Governors State University, adjunct faculty are hired as temporary faculty with specific teaching responsibilities for a semester or summer session. This position does not lead to full-time employment. Adjuncts are not part of the faculty bargaining unit or Faculty Senate.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Linguistics, or related field.
• Or a Master’s degree with a TESOL Certificate.
• Or a Master’s in a related field with at least three years of teaching experience in ESL/EFL for academic purposes, domestically or abroad.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching at the college/university level.
