Position Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced AWS WorkSpaces Migration Architect to lead enterprise-scale desktop migration and modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in AWS WorkSpaces, EUC/VDI architecture, persistent and non-persistent desktops, FSLogix, profile management, Windows image engineering, Terraform, CI/CD, and automation.
This person will be responsible for architecture, discovery, migration planning, desktop design, image engineering, infrastructure automation, deployment pipelines, and technical leadership throughout the migration lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead discovery, assessment, sizing, dependency mapping, and migration planning.
- Analyze existing EUC/VDI environments and develop AWS WorkSpaces migration strategies.
- Design migration waves, pilot deployments, production cutovers, rollback procedures, and transition plans.
- Work directly with client stakeholders and technical teams.
- Define migration roadmaps aligned with business and technical requirements.
- Identify migration risks, dependencies, and remediation strategies.
- Design and deploy AWS WorkSpaces Personal (Persistent) environments.
- Design and deploy AWS WorkSpaces Pools (Non-Persistent) environments.
- Develop desktop pools based on workload personas and business requirements.
- Define capacity planning, scaling, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Optimize WorkSpaces performance, cost, security, and user experience.
- Design networking, identity, authentication, and access requirements for WorkSpaces.

4. Image Engineering & Lifecycle Management
- Establish and maintain enterprise Golden Image strategies.
- Build and optimize Windows 10/11 Enterprise images.
- Automate image creation, testing, validation, and deployment.
- Implement image versioning and lifecycle management.
- Perform application integration and compatibility testing.
- Optimize Windows images for AWS WorkSpaces.
- Develop standardized image management processes.
- Support application packaging and deployment.
5. Terraform & Infrastructure as Code
Develop and maintain enterprise-grade Terraform modules for:
- AWS WorkSpaces
- VPC
- IAM
- Networking
- Security infrastructure
- Supporting AWS services
Responsibilities include:
- Infrastructure provisioning through Terraform.
- Reusable and modular Terraform development.
- State management and environment separation.
- Automated infrastructure testing and validation.
- Integration with enterprise CI/CD and release management.
- Implementing GitOps-based infrastructure deployment.
CloudFormation experience is preferred.
6. CI/CD & Automation
Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using:
Responsibilities include:
- Automating WorkSpaces image build and deployment pipelines.
- Implementing GitOps methodologies.
- Automating compliance validation and testing.
- Implementing release approvals and deployment controls.
- Integrating IaC with enterprise release management.
