Job summary

Gotham Technology Group is seeking a hands-on Cloud Engineer to advance our cloud-native platform in AWS. You will own serverless app development, infrastructure as code, and automated deployment workflows that scale across multiple teams.

Work closely with Cloud Engineering, Application Development, Security, and Release Engineering to deliver reliable cloud solutions, troubleshoot complex issues, and continuously improve observability and performance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on AWS experience.
• Experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway and REST APIs.
• Infrastructure as Code experience; Terraform preferred, AWS SAM/CloudFormation.
• CI/CD tooling experience with GitHub Actions.
• Programming or scripting in Python, Node.js, or Java.
• Strong troubleshooting and cross-team collaboration skills.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain serverless applications using AWS Lambda and API Gateway.
• Build and maintain infrastructure using Terraform, AWS SAM, and CloudFormation.
• Develop and support REST APIs and integration services.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Support containerized workloads running in ECS/Fargate environments.
• Develop automation and tooling using Python, Node.js, or Java.
• Troubleshoot production issues across applications, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and deployment pipelines.
• Monitor and improve application reliability, performance, and observability.
• Partner with development teams to implement cloud-native architecture patterns and best practices.
• Contribute to reusable infrastructure templates, deployment standards, and automation frameworks.
• Leverage AI-powered engineering tools to improve productivity and accelerate development.

Job description

Our client, a growing organization modernizing its cloud footprint, is looking for a hands-on Engineer to join their cloud engineering group and help build, automate, and support cloud-native solutions within their AWS environment.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working across cloud infrastructure, serverless applications, APIs, automation, and CI/CD pipelines. You'll partner closely with Cloud Engineering, Application Development, Security, and Release Engineering teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and automated solutions that support business-critical applications.

Success in this role requires strong AWS experience, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to bridge both infrastructure and application development teams.

What You'll Do

Required Qualifications

• Experience building and supporting solutions using AWS Lambda
• Experience working with API Gateway and REST APIs
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code concepts and tools, preferably Terraform
• Experience using AWS SAM and/or CloudFormation
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions
• Development or scripting experience with Python, Node.js, or Java
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities across both infrastructure and application layersExperience supporting production cloud environments
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar platforms

Preferred Qualifications

• Docker or containerization experience
• OAuth 2.0 and application authentication experience
• DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, or RDS experience
• CloudWatch, Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry, or related observability tools
• AWS certifications
