Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to engineer and maintain AWS environments using IaC and automation for our clients. You will diagnose complex cloud issues, collaborate with developers, security analysts, and PMs, and lead automation initiatives while mentoring junior staff.

The role requires an Active Secret Security Clearance, ABET-accredited degrees, 14+ years with a Bachelor's or 10+ years with a Master's, and hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform/CloudFormation,

Qualifications

Active Secret Security Clearance
ABET-accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution
14+ years with a Bachelor's or 10+ years with a Master's in software/network engineering
Hands-on AWS, IaC tools (Terraform/CloudFormation), Python, Bash/PowerShell
CI/CD pipelines, Docker/Kubernetes, and AWS networking (VPC, Route 53, Transit Gateway, VPN)
Current CompTIA Security+ and Agile/CSD certification
Excellent collaboration with IT, development, security, and PM stakeholders
Able to travel to Charleston, SC site for PI planning quarterly

Responsibilities

Engineer and maintain optimal performance and availability of customer AWS environments using IaC and automation
Diagnose and resolve complex cloud infrastructure issues and support cloud-system hurdles
Collaborate with IT stakeholders, developers, security analysts, and project managers to align infrastructure with business goals
Lead automation initiatives and mentor junior engineering staff
Create and maintain technical documentation for architecture decisions, automation processes, and compliance artifacts
Assist with business development activities, including technical interviews, technical documentation, proposal writing support, and proposal color reviews
Travel to the Charleston, SC customer site for Program Increment Planning four times per year, one week each

Requirements

Active Secret Security Clearance
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field
Bachelor's degree must be ABET-accredited and the degree must be from a regionally accredited institution
10+ years of software or network engineering experience with a Master's degree, or 14+ years with a Bachelor's degree
Experience designing, developing, and maintaining software, network solutions, and specialized applications
Current CompTIA Security+ certification
Agile Developer or Certified Scrum Developer (CSD) certification
Hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform/CloudFormation, Python, Bash, or PowerShell, CI/CD pipelines, Docker/Kubernetes, and AWS networking services including VPC, Route 53, Transit Gateway, and VPN
Comfortable with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Able to lift up to 10–15 pounds at a time

Demonstrates expertise in managing AWS environments through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation, with a strong focus on cloud infrastructure support and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Holds relevant certifications and extensive experience in software and network engineering, ensuring optimal performance and compliance.
