AWS Database Software Engineer

As an AWS Database Software Engineer, you will resolve complex geospatial database challenges in a fast, agile environment. You will not only develop software, but also design end‑to‑end solutions that make a difference. This role is more than just coding; you will master new tools, identify system improvements, help clients overcome difficult challenges using the latest architectural approaches, and ensure the solution considers future functionality and enhancements.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5+ years of experience in software with a cloud-first development approach
• 4+ years of experience with enterprise data engineering development, including geospatial data
• 3+ years of experience with AWS services and cloud‑native architecture patterns, including ECS/EKS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, EC2, RDS, DynamoDB, IAM policies, security groups, and network security
• 3+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code, including AWS CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation
• Experience working with ETL/ELT pipeline development using AWS services
• Experience with data lakes, data warehousing, and analytics platforms
• Experience developing and deploying production geospatial solutions from concept to O&M
• Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam
• Bachelor’s degree

Nice If You Have

• Experience with Authority to Operate (ATO) processes and security documentation
• Experience with database administration and optimization, including PostgreSQL or Aurora Postgres with geospatial workloads
• Experience designing and optimizing spatial database schemas, spatial indexing strategies, and complex geospatial queries at scale
• Experience leading technical initiatives in large-scale environments
• Experience with system design, including scalability and reliability
• Experience developing dashboards and monitoring systems to track streaming services
• Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements
• TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
• AWS Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Developer
• IAT Level II+ Certification such as Security+ or CISSP

Clearance Requirements

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance is required.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). Compensation is based on location, education, skills, and experience, among other factors. Work Model

• Remote: You may be required to work in person at a Booz Allen or customer facility occasionally.
• Hybrid: You will be expected to work from a Booz Allen facility frequently, and may also need to visit a customer facility.
• Onsite: Work will primarily be performed at a Booz Allen office or customer facility.
