Job summary

Capgemini is seeking an AWS Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud-native data solutions on AWS. The role emphasizes ETL/ELT, data lakes, data warehouses, and analytics to enable data-driven decisions.

The candidate will work with AWS Glue, Lambda, EMR, S3, Redshift, Athena, Kinesis, and Step Functions, plus SQL, Python, Spark, and governance best practices. Hybrid work options in NYC/Charlotte are available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, ETL development, or Big Data solutions.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
  • Strong experience designing and developing data pipelines using AWS services.
  • Experience building and managing cloud-based Data Lakes and Data Warehouses.
  • Strong SQL skills with relational databases.
  • Proficiency in Python and Spark.
  • Knowledge of ETL/ELT, data modeling, and data integration.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration and automated scheduling.
  • Hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
  • Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled AWS Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data solutions on the AWS platform. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in data engineering, ETL development, cloud-native architectures, and big data technologies, with the ability to support enterprise analytics, reporting, and data-driven decision-making initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes on AWS.
  • Build and optimize data ingestion, transformation, and integration solutions from multiple structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Develop and manage enterprise data lakes and data warehouses using AWS services.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, data analysts, architects, and application teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, governance, and security across the data platform.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data workflows for performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Develop reusable frameworks and automation solutions to improve operational efficiency.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and Agile/Scrum ceremonies.
  • Support deployment, release management, and production support activities.
  • Implement best practices for cloud architecture, cost optimization, and data engineering standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, ETL development, or Big Data solutions.
  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience working with AWS cloud services.
  • Strong experience designing and developing data pipelines using AWS services such as Glue, Lambda, EMR, S3, Redshift, Athena, Kinesis, and Step Functions.
  • Experience building and managing cloud-based Data Lakes and Data Warehouses.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience developing scalable data processing applications.
  • Experience with Apache Spark and distributed data processing frameworks.
  • Knowledge of ETL/ELT methodologies, data modeling, and data integration concepts.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools and automated data pipeline scheduling.
  • Hands‑on experience using Git, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • AWS Certifications such as AWS Certified Data Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or AWS Certified Developer.
  • Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Apache Airflow, or Kafka.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Experience with real‑time and streaming data architectures.
  • Familiarity with machine learning data pipelines and advanced analytics platforms.
  • Experience supporting large‑scale enterprise data platforms and analytics ecosystems.
