Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector II to oversee acceptance/reject decisions for structural steel, pipe, and welded assemblies per AWS D1.1, D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104 as required.

The role involves witnessing qualification tests, reviewing WPS/PQR, directing NDT, and writing inspection reports for engineers and building officials. Travel to sites may be required, with per diem as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting inspector certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspections with authority per code.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder qualification tests and interpret NDT.
• Write inspection reports and nonconformance reports for the engineer of record and the building official.
