Job Summary
The AWS Configuration & Development Specialist will support the cloud-driven transformation of enterprise insurance platforms by designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable, and cost-efficient AWS solutions.
This role combines hands-on cloud engineering, automation, and solution development with a strong emphasis on security, compliance, and operational excellence in a regulated environment.
The specialist will collaborate closely with architects, developers, security teams, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable AWS-based solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain AWS infrastructure components, including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, and CloudFront.
- Implement and manage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.
- Build, enhance, and support CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, or equivalent tools.
- Optimize AWS environments for performance, scalability, availability, and cost efficiency.
Development & Automation
- Develop serverless applications and automation scripts using Python, Node.js, or similar languages.
- Create reusable modules, templates, and automation frameworks to standardize and streamline cloud deployments.
- Integrate AWS services with internal insurance systems and third-party platforms.
Security, Compliance & Governance
- Implement AWS security best practices, including IAM policies, encryption, monitoring, and logging.
- Ensure cloud solutions meet regulatory and compliance requirements such as GDPR, ISO 27001, and SOC 2.
- Collaborate with security teams on risk assessments, vulnerability remediation, and audit support.
Monitoring & Operations
- Configure and manage observability, monitoring, and alerting using CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray, and third-party tools.
- Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure issues and support incident response and resolution.
- Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and architectural diagrams.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in AWS engineering or cloud development roles.
- Strong knowledge of AWS core services, networking, IAM, and security controls.
- Proven experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Experience implementing and supporting CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Programming or scripting experience in Python, Node.js, Bash, or similar languages.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and collaboration skills.
- Experience working in regulated industries such as insurance, finance, or healthcare.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker, ECS, or EKS.
- Experience with event-driven architectures and serverless frameworks.
- Understanding of insurance systems, such as policy administration, claims platforms, or data pipelines.
Certifications
- AWS certifications, such as Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or SysOps Administrator, are preferred.
