Job description

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an AWS Cloud Engineer to join our team supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Datacenter Consolidation and Cloud Optimization (DCCO) program, providing Tier 3 support for the DHS Homeland Advanced Recognition Technology (HART) biometric system. The Tier 3 team maintains the HART infrastructure by installing and configuring system software and hardware, monitoring system performance, resolving customer tickets within JIRA, and supporting system incident troubleshooting. Members interact closely with the government customer to achieve system objectives, provide updates, and support on-call duties approximately 4-6 times a year. This role is fully telework within the United States.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Develop, document, communicate, and enforce network technology policies.
  • Install and configure new software and hardware, including servers, network devices, and firewalls.
  • Monitor system performance, IT operations, and storage utilization.
  • Plan hardware or software upgrades to support growth.
  • Manage user accounts, assets, and security permissions per policies.
  • Support escalated help desk requests and perform system administrator activities.
  • Create and maintain Splunk dashboards to measure system performance.
  • Review logs to identify anomalies and troubleshoot issues.
  • Identify root causes and document troubleshooting steps.
  • Support Active Directory/LDAP, certificate services, network communications, and security compliance.
  • Provide Tier III support for incident management.
  • Work independently and in teams to meet project objectives.
  • Provide on-call support approximately 4-6 weeks per year.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma with 6 years of experience.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a DHS EOD clearance prior to starting.
  • 5 years of IT experience.
  • Experience operating, configuring, installing, and maintaining Splunk in a cloud environment.
  • Experience with AWS.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building operational Splunk dashboards.
  • Expertise in RHEL, Windows, and open-source technologies.
  • Knowledge of OpenShift, Ansible, Jenkins, JFrog, and similar tools.
  • Experience in Cloud Systems Administration.
