Job summary

NJ Transit is seeking an accomplished PM to lead cloud migration initiatives and major on-premises infrastructure projects, including a data center relocation. You will coordinate cross-functional planning across AWS cloud, VMware-based infrastructure, and legacy systems critical to transportation operations.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of multi-phase project management experience, strong communication skills, and familiarity with hybrid cloud environments and AWS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required; PMP certification strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of project or program management experience across multi-phase technical projects.
• Experience managing both cloud (AWS preferred) and on-prem infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating or managing data center moves and large-scale infrastructure transitions.
• Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments, VMware virtualization, and cloud migration approaches.
• Strong risk, schedule, and stakeholder communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and delivery of AWS cloud migration initiatives across applications, infrastructure, and data services.
• Partner with Cloud Computing team to sequence migration waves based on readiness and business impact.
• Establish structured migration plans for early-maturity cloud environments; pilot migrations and iterative improvements.
• Maintain program-level roadmaps, risks, dependencies, and executive reporting.
• Oversee planning and execution of a full data center relocation with inventory, dependency mapping, move groups, and cutover planning.
• Coordinate with network, storage, security, and facilities teams for safe physical asset migration.
• Ensure rollback plans, communication protocols, and downtime windows are clearly defined and executed.
• Oversee on-premise technology projects including VMware, enterprise storage, servers, network upgrades, disaster recovery testing.
• Act as liaison among engineers, operations teams, business units, and external vendors.
