Job summary

System One is seeking an AWS Application Architect to lead cloud architecture across AWS services for enterprise applications. You will guide teams in designing and modernizing apps hosted on AWS, focusing on performance, security, and reliability.

You will document architecture, drive technical reviews, and contribute to agile projects, collaborating with business stakeholders. Based in Knoxville, TN and other locations, this full-time role demands strong communication and problem-solving

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on AWS experience with EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch, and VPC.
• Experience documenting architecture, components and integration patterns.
• Strong background in enterprise app development using Java, Spring Boot, Python, or similar.
• Experience building RESTful APIs, microservices, and SOA.
• Experience migrating and deploying applications in AWS environments.
• Understanding of distributed systems, connectivity, messaging, and enterprise integrations.
• Knowledge of relational DBs like PostgreSQL/Oracle/Amazon RDS, SQL & data integration.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git, CodePipeline).
• Understanding Docker and container orchestration (ECS/EKS/Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of secure app development, auth, encryption, and AWS security best practices.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve performance and cloud infra issues.
• Experience preparing tech specs, diagrams, implementation docs, and recommendations.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with business stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain application architecture documentation, technical specifications, integration diagrams, and implementation guidelines.
• Provide technical guidance to development teams building and modernizing applications hosted on AWS.
• Evaluate application requirements and recommend appropriate AWS services, integration approaches, and implementation strategies.
• Support the development of application prototypes and proof of concept solutions to validate technical approaches.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure applications meet performance, scalability, availability, and security requirements.
• Identify and resolve complex application integration, performance, and connectivity issues.
• Participate in technical reviews, code reviews, and application modernization initiatives.
• Promote application development standards, reusable components, and Agile delivery practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch, and VPC.
• Experience developing and documenting application architecture, technical specifications, application components, and integration patterns.
• Strong background in enterprise application development using Java, Spring Boot, Python, or similar technologies.
• Experience developing and integrating web applications, RESTful APIs, microservices, and service oriented applications.
• Experience supporting application migration, modernization, and deployment in AWS environments.
• Understanding of distributed systems, application connectivity, messaging, and integration with enterprise platforms.
• Working knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or Amazon RDS, including SQL and data integration.
• Familiarity with automated build and deployment pipelines using Jenkins, Git, AWS CodePipeline, or similar tools.
• Understanding of Docker and container orchestration technologies such as Amazon ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of secure application development, authentication, authorization, encryption, and AWS security best practices.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve application performance, integration, and cloud infrastructure issues.
• Experience preparing technical specifications, application diagrams, implementation documentation, and technical recommendations.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and collaborating with development teams and business stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.
• AWS Certified Developer – Associate.
