Job Summary

An OBGYN sonographer provides skilled and compassionate care in the diagnosis and management of fetal and women’s health. The sonographer is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations, ensuring high-quality imaging and accurate documentation, and providing excellent patient care. The role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with patients and medical staff.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Conduct ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
  • Utilize appropriate equipment and techniques to obtain high-quality images for diagnostic purposes.
  • Maintain a sterile environment by adhering to aseptic techniques during procedures.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to discuss findings and patient care plans.
  • Provide clear instructions to patients regarding the procedure and ensure their comfort throughout the examination.
  • Document all relevant patient information and imaging results accurately in medical records.
  • Maintain ARDMS certification and licensure requirements in accordance with professional organization standards.
  • Stay current with advances in medical imaging technology and professional standards.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Proficient in medical terminology relevant to sonography and diagnostic radiology.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology to accurately interpret ultrasound images.
  • Proven technical skills in image acquisition and optimization.
  • Ability to provide exceptional patient care while ensuring positive experience during examinations.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients and healthcare teams.
  • Proficiency with medical imaging equipment and software used in ultrasound diagnostics.
  • Understanding aseptic techniques to maintain safety standards during procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.

Education /Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of OBGYN experience (Required).
  • ARDMS certification (Required).
  • NT certification (Preferred).

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to walk, sit, and stand for extended intervals.
  • Flexibility regarding office location assignments.
