Job description

SCHEDULE: 40 hours, Mon-Fri, 11:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.

Pays $21.40 per hour DOE, plus $2.00 shift differential pay for hours worked between 11:00 pm – 7:00 am.

Location: 41 New Chardon Street, Boston, MA

Position Summary:

The Awake Overnight Residential Counselor is responsible for the safety of tenants at the 34 New Chardon Street residence, part of the Behavioral Health Division of Pine Street Inn. The program provides permanent housing to formerly homeless women using a Housing First/Stabilization model. The counselor will assist tenants with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills during early morning hours, fostering a respectful environment.

Requirements

Education/Training:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Basic prior human services training

Preferred:

  • Advanced training in human services
  • Experience with Housing First/Stabilization models

Knowledge/Experience:

  • At least one year experience working with individuals with complex disabilities in shelter, community residence, or inpatient settings
  • Experience maintaining a safe environment for clients
  • Understanding of rehabilitation and consumer empowerment concepts
  • Knowledge of mental illness and dual diagnosis
  • Experience assisting with ADL skills
  • Effective communication skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with Housing First/Stabilization models
  • Experience with homeless populations
  • Experience with dual diagnosis and untreated mental illness
