Job summary

Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, MA seeks an Awake Overnight caregiver for our residential cottages to help ensure the safety and well-being of students with complex needs. You will remain awake during your shift, monitor students, and respond to medical or behavioral situations with proper documentation.

The role offers opportunities for growth, with a schedule that includes weeknights and weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 1 year of experience working with special needs children or equivalent education/experience.
• Ability to complete and maintain First Aid/CPR, AED, CPPI, and Sign Language (dependent on program needs).

Responsibilities

• Remain awake and alert during shift to perform routine checks of students in residential programs.
• Attend to direct care, medical and behavioral needs; respond to emergencies and document issues.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma
• 1 years’ experience working with special needs children or an equivalent combination or education and experience
• Ability to complete and maintain First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Crisis Prevention and Physical Intervention (CPPI), and Sign Language (dependent on program needs)

The following shared salary range is what Perkins reasonably expects, in good faith, to pay for the position. The applicable range could differ based on experience and qualification.
