Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic VP – Operational Risk professional to join our Finance & Treasury departments. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the First Line of Defense (1LoD) operational risk across the firm’s financial operations. You will work closely with senior business leaders to ensure that all financial and treasury activities, including liquidity management, cash management, reporting, and funding, are fully aligned with the firm's risk appetite, regulatory requirements, and operational objectives.

As the leader of operational risk for Finance & Treasury, you will be responsible for ensuring that effective risk controls, policies, and procedures are in place, mitigating risks before they impact the firm. This is a critical leadership role with a focus on identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational risks within the daily operations of Finance and Treasury functions, ensuring business continuity and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead 1LoD Operational Risk Oversight: Oversee the operational risk framework for the Finance and Treasury functions, including liquidity management, cash flow forecasting, and internal funding processes
  • Risk Identification and Mitigation: Proactively identify potential operational risks within Finance & Treasury processes, including forecasting, settlement, liquidity, and reporting functions, and implement mitigation strategies
  • Ensure Robust Control Environment: Lead the development and continuous enhancement of risk controls, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
  • Operational Risk Assessments: Conduct detailed risk assessments and control testing for Treasury activities such as cash management, funding, liquidity stress testing, and financial reporting
  • Collaborate with Senior Stakeholders: Partner with Finance, Treasury, Compliance, and Audit teams to ensure alignment on risk identification, reporting, and compliance with policies
  • Incident Management and Root Cause Analysis: Oversee incident management within the Finance & Treasury departments, ensuring timely investigation, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective actions
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all Finance and Treasury activities adhere to relevant regulatory and risk management requirements (e.g., Basel III, Volcker Rule, Dodd-Frank Act)
  • Develop Risk Awareness Culture: Promote a strong risk-aware culture within the Finance and Treasury teams, providing training, guidance, and support to ensure effective risk management practices are embedded within everyday activities
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor and report on key risk indicators (KRIs) and operational risk metrics, providing timely insights and recommendations to senior management
  • Lead Crisis Management: Coordinate response efforts and contingency planning for any operational disruptions that may impact liquidity, funding, or financial reporting processes
