Job description

Office Status: Hybrid & Onsite – New York, NY

Base Salary: $120,000 – $150,000 + Bonus (level commensurate with experience)

Overview:

This opportunity sits within the Credit Risk Management and Credit Approval function of a well-established global financial institution, offering independent credit analysis, risk evaluation, and committee-level credit approval responsibilities across a diversified C&I corporate lending portfolio. The role spans the full credit lifecycle — from initial Front Office proposal review and joint due diligence through credit assessment preparation, Credit Approval Committee presentation, covenant monitoring, and post-disbursement portfolio management. It's an ideal fit for a credit-trained professional with 3–8 years of C&I corporate credit risk and underwriting experience who combines strong financial modeling skills with sound independent credit judgment and the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and Credit Committees. The position will be leveled based on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze credit requests and proposals submitted by the Front Office across all aspects including limit structure, historical financial performance, base case and stress case financial projections, management quality, industry dynamics, market and economic conditions, and third-party reports
  • Provide and document independent credit risk recommendations on Front Office proposals; articulate credit risk views on the bankability of requests and their conformity with Bank policies and procedures
  • Prepare comprehensive credit assessments including adjudication opinions, financial projections, and stress tests; provide comments and recommendations on key terms and conditions, approval conditions, policy exceptions, internal risk ratings, and post-lending monitoring requirements
  • Present and defend credit cases before the Credit Approval Committee; ensure all applicable conditions precedent are satisfactorily met prior to closing and funding
  • Review GCMS entries and covenant compliance tracking; review legal documentation with a focus on credit terms including covenants, collateral, amortization, interest rates, and other special provisions
  • Assist account officers with loan structuring, loan exposure management, and on-site due diligence as needed
  • Manage post-disbursement responsibilities including preparation of interim and annual reviews jointly with Relationship Managers; conduct quarterly reviews of existing credits as required; attend to all audit, loan review, and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor industry trends and assess the impact of client-specific or macro negative developments from a portfolio perspective; conduct exception and pipeline management across the assigned portfolio
  • Serve as a center of expertise for assigned sectors and products; develop deep industry knowledge and expertise in banking products and regulatory requirements
  • Support Credit MIS including portfolio analysis and periodic reporting; contribute to the development and maintenance of Credit Risk Policies and Procedures to reflect changes in internal and regulatory guidelines
  • Coach and develop junior credit staff on subject matter and analytical best practices where applicable
  • Act as a risk manager with full accountability for identifying, escalating, and managing risks; demonstrate consistent risk awareness through adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and controls
