Job summary

A Global Bank in New York City is seeking an experienced professional to join their Product Control team as an Assistant Vice President. The role focuses on partnering with multiple business areas to ensure accurate accounting, robust reconciliations, and timely reporting.

You will review transaction activity, monitor cash movements, and oversee journal entries, variances, and internal controls for balance sheet accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in product control, financial control, accounting, operations, or a related function within financial services.
  • Strong understanding of financial products, transaction activity, and financial reporting processes.
  • Experience with balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger accounting, and financial controls.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, data analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key Finance and Control partner to multiple business areas within a global financial services organization.
  • Review transaction activity, cash movements, and accounting entries to ensure accuracy, completeness, and appropriate financial treatment.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and account substantiation, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Monitor settlement activity and related financial transactions across several business lines.
  • Oversee operational accounting activities, including expense tracking, invoicing, payment processing, and cash monitoring.
  • Ensure daily, monthly, and quarterly reporting is complete, accurate, and reconciled to the general ledger.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and reporting deliverables.
  • Evaluate new products and business activities to determine the appropriate accounting, valuation, and disclosure treatment.
  • Analyze financial and balance sheet variances and clearly communicate findings to management.
  • Collaborate with business, operations, accounting, planning, technology, and other internal teams to address issues and strengthen processes.
