Job Summary
The AVP, Peri-op Svcs provides strategic leadership and direction for a large clinical service area. Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining a system for developing, reviewing, approving, and disseminating standards of clinical practice, quality, education, advanced practice, and clinical operation. Developing and allocating capital and operational budgets for assigned areas and ensuring that operational goals are achieved efficiently and effectively. Performs related work as required.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the development and implementation of policies, practices, and standards for assigned areas to ensure compliance with Medical Center procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinates the implementation of plans, operations, and programs throughout assigned sections, ensuring appropriate resources for the delivery of care.
- Provides administrative direction to management staff within assigned sections, supporting plan development, priority setting, decision making, and professional development.
- Develops and allocates capital and operating budgets, reviewing and approving budgetary recommendations, and preparing variance analyses.
- Participates in developing new and expanding programs for surgical services, supporting the strategic direction of the Network, and leading their implementation.
- Consults with finance leadership on budgeting and planning, monitors budgets and expenses.
- Evaluates program effectiveness, recommends reorganization strategies, and ensures compliance with quality assurance standards.
- Establishes and maintains an environment ensuring patient and environmental safety, addressing high-risk situations proactively.
- Directs planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical and non-clinical programs and services, ensuring appropriate resources.
- Provides leadership for decision making and problem resolution within multidisciplinary groups, including physicians.
- Oversees quality improvement activities for surgical services and collaborates on initiatives.
- Ensures effective management and supervision of patient care services, complying with health standards and policies.
- Interprets and communicates policies related to service utilization.
- Manages staff, fostering teamwork, growth, and development, and maintaining competencies.
Qualifications/Requirements
- 10 years of experience in hospital or healthcare administration, with at least 5 years in a perioperative environment. RN experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing, business, healthcare, or hospital administration required. Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.
- Thorough knowledge of hospital and operating room administration, surgical practices, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
- Ability to develop programs, establish effective relationships, manage complex physician relationships, and oversee staff and resources.
- Proficiency in computer applications and sound professional judgment.
