Job summary

Beacon Specialized Living seeks an experienced leader to oversee operations across multiple homes, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements while meeting budgets and clinical targets. The role includes supervising staff, coordinating move-ins/transfers, and maintaining strong relationships with regulators and families.

Responsibilities also include driving program quality, staff development, and adherence to HIPAA and billing documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Behavioral Health, Business Administration, Social Work or related field required.
  • Licensed in good standing where required by state licensing authority.
  • Excellent communicator with ability to interact with employees, individuals served, families, regulators and the public.
  • Minimum 5–10 years in Adult Foster Care, nursing home administration, or operations management preferred.
  • Experience overseeing multiple communities/homes and managing budgets.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, medical management, and care plan record keeping and billing documents.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Proficient in English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee budgets, clinical effectiveness targets, and staffing hours to prevent shortages.
  • Implement BSLS policies, procedures, and care practices.
  • Coordinate move-ins, transfers, and discharges as needed.
  • Develop and maintain regulatory relationships with state/local agencies.
  • Monitor occupancy rates, income/expenses, and program quality.
  • Support training, interviewing, and development of direct reports and managers.
  • Assist compliance with investigations and inspections by providing documentation and responses.

Job description

Primary Responsibilities:
Integrity
  • Always be compliant with all company and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Operational Oversight: Ensure company goals are met, including budget and clinical effectiveness targets.
  • Policy Implementation: Consistently apply and deploy BSLS policies, procedures, and care practices.
  • Budget Management: Assist the leadership team in meeting/exceeding budgets and clinical effectiveness targets.
  • Staffing Oversight: Adhere to budgets, monitor staffing hours and overtime to prevent staffing crises.
  • Positive Relations: Maintain positive relations with individuals, families, and employees by promptly addressing their needs, requests, concerns, and suggestions.
  • Cooperates with Beacon Specialized Living, the Department of Human Services (DHS) staff or any other regulatory body during any inspection, investigation or inquiry.

  • Regulatory Relationships: Manage state and local relationships with regulatory & referral agencies to BSLS.
  • Marketing Oversight: Oversee marketing, prospective individual support, follow-up, and occupancy rates.
  • Training Facilitation: Facilitate interviewing, placement, and training of direct reports and Care Team Managers.
  • Succession Planning: Develop and implement a succession plan for direct reports and Care Team Manager positions.
Advocacy
  • Problem-Solving Engagement: Engage subordinates in problem-solving and achieving positive outcomes.
  • Professionalism Promotion: Ensure staff professionalism, including uniform (where applicable), badge, language, and appearance, and promote Beacon Pride.
  • Corrective Actions: Implement fair and timely corrective actions, performance improvement, and training.
  • Compliance Assistance: Assist the compliance department with responses, correspondence, and corrective action plans (CAPs) for investigations and inspections.

  • Move-In Coordination: Coordinate individual move-ins, transfers, and discharges as needed.
  • Performance Review: Review of individual performance under BSLS contracts.
  • Service Contractor Evaluation: Contract and evaluate service contractors for needed services.
  • Placement Systems: Develop systems for individual suitability and placement based on mental and physical conditions.

  • Meal Plan Monitoring: Monitor physician-directed meal plans, kitchen sanitation, meal quality, cleanliness, and individual satisfaction.
  • Program Enrichment: Ensure BSLS activities and programs enrich individuals' social, emotional, mental, and physical needs.
  • Record Maintenance: Ensure records are secured, confidential, up to date, and accurate for individuals and employees.
  • Work Injury Reports: Ensure work injury reports are entered timely and accurately and enter if needed.
  • Administrative Duties: Perform administrative duties, including month-end reports.
  • Compliance Assurance: Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and company rules.
  • Operational Monitoring: Develop systems to monitor operations, including occupancy rates, income/expenses, inventories, satisfaction, and meetings.
  • Documentation: Ensure timely, professionally written documentation and billing.
  • Adaptability: Complete assigned duties, adapting to changing needs and company strategy.

Five Diamond Status

Support the Care Team Manager and Program Director in all areas to achieve 5 diamond status. This includes monthly visits to any home with a 3 diamond or lower rating documenting efforts toward improvement.

Education & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Behavioral Health, Business Administration, Social Work or a related field required, Master’s degree in related field is preferred.
  • Must be licensed in good standing, if required by the State Licensing Authority.
  • Must be an excellent communicator and able to effectively communicate with employees, individuals served, families, regulatory officials, state hospitals and the general public.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years in an Adult Foster Care, nursing home administrator, or manager of operations position preferred.
  • Must have compassion for and a desire to work with special populations with IDD and chronic illnesses.
  • Previous experience in behavioral health and human services related environments is preferred.
  • Must have experience overseeing multiple communities/homes.
  • Experience with financial reporting and managing multiple budgets.
  • Ongoing approval by Federal, State, and local government entities to work at the company.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA, medical management, and care plan record keeping and billing documents.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
  • Required Information Technology (IT) Systems Skills and Proficiency: Beacon Specialized Living Services (BSLS) uses a variety of information technology systems including Microsoft Office 365 including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive. You will be responsible for learning and becoming proficient with these IT systems and others that BSLS may deploy or change in the future.
