Job summary

Allied World is seeking a Senior Claims Manager in New York to lead a claims team and manage complex cases with strategic oversight. You will review, evaluate and negotiate claims, set reserves, and coordinate with underwriters, brokers and defense counsel to protect our clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; professional insurance qualification preferred (ANZIIF or ACII).
• 7+ years of claims experience, including team leadership.
• Strong negotiation, analytical and communication skills.
• Customer service oriented with ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Review, evaluate, negotiate and resolve complex claims within authority and guidelines.
• Set up, investigate and authorize claim payments; manage settlements and reserves.
• Identify fraudulent claims and inform stakeholders.
• Lead and mentor the claims team; provide training and guidance.
• Prepare executive claim reports and contribute to compliance.

Negotiate and settle claims within specified authority and recommend reserves beyond authority to appropriate management as necessaryIdentifying, investigate suspicious / fraudulent claims and take appropriate actions and keep relevant stakeholders closely informedTeam Leadership & ManagementManages the team for the Involved Line(s) of Business and provide/recommend necessary training mentoring and guidance to the team membersDisplay good management skills either from a direct report, or more general mentoring junior members of teamHave ability to step in and manage team in absence of VP (with supervision)Technical LeadershipExhibit technical leadership, both internally and externally, on claims matter which the Company participatesEstablish timely and appropriate reserves and regularly report claim developments and trends to claims and underwriting managementProactively manage vendorsCustomer Relations & Business DevelopmentManaging customer/intermediary interactions in an efficient, courteous and timely manner in order to deliver high standards of customer satisfaction. This also includes handling and resolving any customer feedback or complaintsMeet with existing or prospective clients or intermediaries to promote Claims and support business developmentMeet with existing or prospective clients and brokersCompliance & ReportingEnsure compliance with all legal, regulatory and policy requirements internally and externallyPreparation of reports or analysis where necessaryPrepare Executive Claim reports and present on a quarterly basis to senior executivesPrepare claim and statistical reports as requiredQualificationsRelevant academic qualifications with a minimum of 7 years' solid working experience including experience in managing a team of the Involved Line(s) of BusinessBachelor's degreePreferably a holder or in progress of professional insurance qualification such as ANZIIF or ACII and meet minimum local mandatory qualification requirement where relevantSolid experience in handling complex / legal cases independently with sound judgment, strong negotiating and analytical ability in the Involved Line(s) of BusinessExcellent negotiation and communication skillsSelf-motivated individual with ability to work independently and handle a diverse range of claims and responsibilitiesStrong customer service oriented attitudeThe ability to work well, remain calm under pressure and thrive in a team environmentThe salary range for this role is between:Compensation$120,000 – $158,000The annualized base pay range is a broad range based on analysis of similar positions in the market. The actual base pay for the position may be above or below the listed range and determined by a number of considerations, including but not limited to complexity, location, and scope of the role, along with experience, skills, education, training, and other conditions of employment.
