About Houston Police Credit Union :
Founded in 1937 by a dedicated group of Houston police officers during the Great Depression, Houston Police Credit Union (HPCU) began as a small, member-owned cooperative with a mission to provide affordable financial services to the Houston Police Department and their families. Starting with just 14 charter members and a $25 loan limit, HPCU has grown into a trusted financial partner for over 31,000 members, including active and retired HPD officers, civilian employees, and their families.
For decades, we've proudly served as the financial backbone of the Houston Police Department. But as our community's needs evolved, so did we. In late 2024, we expanded our charter to include law enforcement professionals across the Houston Metropolitan Statistical Area, reaffirming our commitment to supporting those who serve and protect our communities. While our roots are deeply embedded in tradition, we're also embracing the future. We've introduced many digital services designed to make banking more convenient and accessible for our members which include but not limited to; online account opening, mobile banking app, Zelle, remote deposit capture, a new digital department, and many more modern technologies.
