Job summary

Sotheby’s Institute of Art is seeking an AVP, Gantry Warehouse Operations in New York to lead the end-to-end operation of a major gallery support hub. The role drives safe, efficient handling, storage and release of property across the Gantry site, while coordinating with multiple teams to optimize space, labor and flow.

The ideal candidate will have 7–10 years of leadership in complex warehouse operations, strong people management skills, and a proven ability to deliver continuous improvement

Qualifications

• 7–10 years leading warehouse, cross-dock or complex operations.
• Proven people leader with experience managing supervisors and frontline teams.
• Strong understanding of warehouse flow, space utilization and safety.
• Ability to improve operations while maintaining high service levels in a fast-paced environment.
• Cross-functional collaboration across Logistics, Photography, Facilities, Security, Risk and Client Experience.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day operation and overall condition of Gantry, including flow, labor deployment and space utilization.
• Establish building-wide operating priorities and resolve congestion and space conflicts.
• Own day-to-day space utilization, staging, storage allocation and capacity execution.
• Enforce standards for handling high-value and fragile property; ensure safety and discipline.
• Lead labour planning, coaching, performance management and training of teams.
• Coordinate property flow with Receiving, Central Planning & Logistics, Photography and other teams.
• Provide operational feedback for future planning and capital projects.
• Collaborate with Facilities, Security and Risk Management on site controls.
• Maintain coordination with Breuer operations for shuttle and exhibition-related movement.
