Job summary
Barclays is seeking an AVP Software Engineer - Full Stack in Whippany, NJ to design, develop and enhance software for our trading desk. You will collaborate with product and tech teams to deliver scalable solutions and participate in code reviews, testing and secure coding practices.
The role includes supporting deployments, managing tech debt upgrades and contributing to a high‑performing, hybrid work environment where flexibility is available under company policy.
Qualifications
- Experience designing and developing software to support trading desk needs.
- Proven ability to review code and improve quality through testing and processes.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment and collaborate across teams.
- Experience implementing secure coding practices to protect data and systems.
- Experience managing deployments and handling production support activities.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and improve software for business, platform, and technology capabilities for the trading desk.
- Provide Level 3 support to the trading desk and coordinate with other tech teams.
- Manage tech debt upgrades for infrastructure, OS, Java runtimes, databases and caching.
- Perform code reviews and collaborate to ensure quality and consistency.
- Validate changes deployed to production with QA and standard testing practices.
- Manage deployments including change requests, deployments and post-implementation reviews.
- Telecommute as permitted by company policy (hybrid role).
