Responsibilities

  • Oversee and file forms, rates and rules with state regulators using Filing Ramp & SERFF.
  • Develop filing strategies to efficiently implement products.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, legal and product teams to ensure filings are current.
  • Coordinate responses to state objections and manage extensions/resubmissions.
  • Document all filing activities with state departments.
  • Research new laws affecting consumer products and update policies.
  • Develop compliance tools to review lender product forms.
  • Oversee staff in internal audits and licensure renewals.
  • Assist staff with complaints handling and market conduct reviews.

Job Description

The Assistant Vice President, Compliance will report directly to Vice President, Compliance. Responsible for providing regulatory and compliance support for the Warranty & Lenders Solutions business unit. Responsible for preparation and submission of form and rate filings for our consumer products for our insurance and obligor companies and certain additional statutory filings as needed. They will lead the compliance team with researching, analyzing, and evaluating state and federal regulations to determine the impact on Arch’s products, policies, procedures, standards, and administration.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and file with state insurance regulators forms, rates and rules utilizing the Filing Ramp & SERFF software applications.
  • Develop filing strategies and product tools to further the most efficient product implementation.
  • Work closely with other departments (underwriting, actuarial, legal, product development) to monitor and communicate filing methods and procedures to ensure rate and form filings in use are accurate and current.
  • Oversee and coordinate process for responding to state objections. Oversee needs for extensions, resubmissions, withdrawals with considerations of individual states’ restrictions and deadlines.
  • Coordinate and document all activities surrounding the filing, approval, disapproval of all filings with state insurance departments.
  • Research, analyze, evaluate, and publish regarding new laws and regulations affecting consumer products and business units’ policies, and procedures.
  • Develop compliance tools to review consumer forms specific to the Lender’s products.
  • Oversee compliance staff in handling internal compliance audits and obligor license renewals.
  • Assist Compliance staff in complaint handling process.
  • Assist Compliance staff with any market conduct reviews, inquiries
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in insurance compliance, regulatory / state filings.
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas, issues and solutions to diverse audience in writing and orally.
  • Excellent inter-personal relationship skills and the ability to work effectively across a large, multi-dimensional organization.
  • Demonstrates high level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Intermediate computer skills, and knowledge of and ability to use standard industry programs and websites.
  • Working knowledge of insurance principles procedures and best practices, state insurance regulation and filing requirements are a plus.
  • Ability to interpret relevant industry trends and information within the industry and react in alignment with company strategic objectives.
  • Availability for some travel between the home office and the business unit’s office.
  • Understanding of P&C insurance licensing requirements and service contract obligor licensing set up and maintenance requirements.
  • Background or knowledge of motor vehicle, service contracts and finance & lenders insurance products
  • Background & knowledge in forced place insurance and debt protection products such as vehicle GAP and excess wear and tear.

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
