Officer Position - Actuarial Pricing for Large Account Casualty Business

This role is responsible for oversight, direction, and management of actuarial pricing for large account casualty business. The successful candidate will ensure effective implementation of strategic objectives and policies within pricing, develop pricing strategies, and create financial forecasts to support business profitability and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement strategic objectives with significant impact on short-term success in actuarial pricing.
  • Establish and manage pricing initiatives affecting the success of large account casualty business, including developing pricing levels for loss sensitive and ground-up accounts.
  • Monitor profitability to ensure pricing strategies meet growth and profitability targets, collaborating with internal departments for data and analysis.
  • Present analyses to senior management and recommend pricing strategies.
  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of internal actuarial reports.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement in methodologies and skills.
  • Stay current on industry issues, regulations, and trends; represent the company in industry groups if needed.
  • Lead and manage staff, focusing on talent management and succession planning.
  • May serve as an expert witness or represent the company with government agencies.
  • Develop and implement effective pricing/rating structures.
  • Ensure analysis methodologies meet actuarial standards and quality expectations.
  • Participate in broader initiatives such as recruiting and training within the actuarial community.

Reporting Line: Typically reporting to VP or higher.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Deep knowledge of actuarial pricing, statistical modeling, and insurance product lines.
  • Strong collaboration, leadership, and management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex concepts.
  • Proven influence and project management abilities.
  • Industry knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Actuarial Science, or related; Master’s preferred.
  • Associate (ACAS) designation required; Fellowship (FCAS) preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience, with 5 years in management.
