Job summary

Sun Valley Academy is seeking a part-time Food Service Worker to support students during lunch periods at our Avondale campus. The role involves supervising students, assisting with meal routines, and maintaining a clean, safe multipurpose lunch environment.

The position requires a High school diploma or equivalent, at least one year of experience with children, and the ability to obtain a Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. Hours are 10:15 A.M.

Salary Range: $17.00/hour

Hours: 10:15 A.M. - 1:30 P.M. Monday-Friday

HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE AT SUN VALLEY ACADEMY

As a Food Service Worker, you will play an important role in supporting students during lunch periods and helping maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. Working closely with school staff, you will supervise students, assist with meal routines, and ensure that students follow appropriate expectations and behaviors.

In this role, you will check students' names against lunch rosters, assist younger students with opening food and drink containers, and monitor students throughout meal periods. You will also help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the multipurpose room by wiping tables, sweeping, mopping, and properly disposing of waste.

This position is essential to creating a positive and well-organized lunch environment where students can enjoy their meals safely while developing appropriate behaviors and routines.

As a Food Service Worker, your role includes:

• Supervise students during lunch periods and ensure proper behavior.
• Check students' names off of assigned lunch rosters.
• Assist lower grade students with opening food and drink containers.
• Monitor students and help maintain a safe and orderly lunch environment.
• Wipe and clean tables throughout the lunch periods.
• Sweep and mop the multipurpose room as needed.
• Collect and dispose of waste to maintain a clean and sanitary environment.
• Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the multipurpose room.
• Assist school staff with student supervision and lunch-related routines.
• Lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Perform carrying, pushing, and pulling activities as required.
• Follow school policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Work cooperatively with students, teachers, staff, and other school personnel.
• Maintain a positive, caring, and professional attitude when interacting with students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience working with children.
• Possess or be able to obtain a Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Ability to work in a timely and efficient manner.
• Ability to relate to students, staff, and the public in a positive and professional manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, and crouch.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to perform the physical duties associated with maintaining a clean and safe lunch environment.
