Job summary

Rocket Lab's Long Beach HQ seeks a Lead Manufacturing Engineer - Avionics & Test to develop and sustain processes for avionics components used across programs. You will support cross-functional teams and lead reviews, with a focus on design for manufacture, test, and continuous improvement.

The role emphasizes mentoring, hiring, and defining Factory layouts, equipment choices, and production commissioning, while applying lean methodologies and problem-solving to drive performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering as listed.
• 5+ years in a manufacturing environment with leadership experience.
• Knowledge of PCB/PCBA, electromechanical assembly, tooling and testing.

Responsibilities

• Coach, mentor and develop engineers to new heights in their careers.
• Conduct weekly, quarterly and yearly reviews with direct reports.
• Interview and hire candidates for new roles.
• Set team goals and metrics to drive lean improvements.
• Lead meetings to drive project completion and manage design-for-manufacture reviews.
• Oversee factory layouts, equipment selection, FAT/SAT, and production commissioning.
• Drive root-cause investigations and corrective actions using lean tools.
