Job summary

Sidus Space is seeking Avionics Technicians I-III to fabricate wire harnesses and cables for satellites and space systems, including ISS, Artemis, and Orion programs. The role is 100% onsite in Cape Canaveral, FL.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of electrical/cable fabrication experience, a HS diploma (associates preferred), and certifications (IPC J-Std-001 and NASA 8739.4). Strong reading of diagrams, soldering skills, and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Three (3+) years’ experience as an electrical/cable fabrication technician or related role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred.
  • Experience with wire crimping and connector soldering.
  • Experience with engineering drawings, wire diagrams, and electrical schematics.
  • IPC J-Std-001 and/or IPC-620 certification, NASA 8739.4 certified.
  • Commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
  • Electromechanical assembly background; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate wire harnesses by measuring, cutting, soldering and crimping wires and contacts.
  • Read work orders, diagrams and wire lists to determine materials and sequence.
  • Assemble cables, satellite buses, and electromechanical systems.
  • Pot connectors to protect from water/dust intrusion.
  • Label and package cable harness assemblies for shipment.

Job Summary

Avionics Technicians I-III are responsible for fabricating wire harnesses and cables used in electrical and electronic equipment systems for satellites and space system components for the International Space Station, Artemis and Orion programs as well as commercial programs. Technicians are also responsible for assembling satellite buses and subsystems, and assembly of other complex electromechanical projects

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Measures, cuts, solders and or crimps wire and contacts to fabricate wire harness
  • Reads instructions, such as work orders, diagrams, and wire lists to determine materials needed and sequence of assembly
  • Assembles cables, satellite buses, and electromechanical systems.
  • Performs potting of connectors to protect from water/dust intrusion
  • Labels and packages cable harness assemblies for shipment
  • Adhere to all Quality Management Systems standards and procedures
  • Treat all team members with respect and dignity ensuring a collaborative culture is continually developed and maintained.

Required Experience and Education/Experience
  • Three (3+) years’ experience as an electrical/cable fabrication technician or other relevant industry experience. Applicants with experience that exceed the minimum may be considered for a higher-level Avionics Technician position.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in related field preferred.Experience in lieu of education may be considered.
  • Experience working with wire crimping and connector soldering.
  • Experience with engineering drawings, wire diagrams, and electrical schematics.
  • IPC J-Std-001 and/or IPC-620 certification, NASA 8739.4 certified.

Physical Requirements
  • Sedentary Work – occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force to carry, lift, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves being stationary most of the time, sometimes requiring moving about the work center on concrete surfaces.
  • Computer Work – daily use of laptop, computer monitor screen, keyboard, and mouse, sometimes utilizing a headset with microphone & speakers.

  • All candidates selected will be subject to background investigation and drug screen
  • To conform to Export Control Requirement under U.S. Government International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Shift/Schedule

1st shift generally works 7:00am – 3:30pm, and 2nd shift 3:00pm – 11:00pm, which includes one 15-minute break and 30-minute unpaid lunch.
