Overview

Job Summary: The Avionics Technician (with A&P) plays a crucial role in the success of the Certificated Repair Station by installing, troubleshooting, and repairing avionics systems and equipment in company aircraft. This role also involves completing FAA documentation for required records of company-owned aircraft and components. Preference is given to candidates with EC135 experience and a strong avionics background at the Elm City Maintenance Facility.

Location: Elm City, located in Wilson County, North Carolina, approximately 10 miles north of Wilson, 20 miles south of Rocky Mount, and 50 miles east of Raleigh. The town is in the Coastal Plain region, offering proximity to both the Atlantic coast and major metropolitan areas.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  1. Fabricate, assemble, install, modify, test, operate, and troubleshoot aircraft avionics and electrical systems.
  2. Fabricate avionics, electrical, and medical systems according to engineering schematics.
  3. Operationally test systems following manufacturer instructions.
  4. Perform electrical build-up activities such as parts recording, harness fabrication, continuity testing, and securing components in aircraft.
  5. Troubleshoot electrical schematics as needed.
  6. Assist in designing and planning installation and repair modifications.
  7. Support planning and documentation of in-flight testing, certification, and troubleshooting procedures.
  8. Maintain FAA repair station documentation, including work orders, FAA Form 337s, aircraft weight and balance, and parts recording.
  9. Order parts and supplies, maintain stock levels, and evaluate parts for repair or restock.
  10. Maintain the work area, equipment, and materials.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Job Requirements
  • Regular scheduled attendance is mandatory.
  • Travel is approximately 2% of the time.

Education & Experience
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, plus two to five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination.
  • Formal Electronics/Avionics Training.
  • Helicopter experience is preferred.

  • Proficiency with tools used in avionics repairs and alterations.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

Computer Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
  • FCC License, FAA Airframe and Powerplant license (required), and/or FAA repairman certificate.
