Aerotek seeks an Avionics Technician to test, troubleshoot, install, and repair aircraft avionics and electrical systems. You will follow engineering specs, maintain safety standards, and may lead daily work plans to meet company goals.

Responsibilities include wiring, harnessing, testing, and documenting work, with attention to FOD control and 5S practices. First-shift initially; may shift as needed at Savannah, GA facility.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years in avionics/electrical field or 2 years schooling plus 2 years related experience

Job Title: Avionics Technician

Job Description

The Avionics Technician provides advanced technical expertise in testing, troubleshooting, and repairing aircraft avionics and electrical systems to minimize schedule impact while upholding the highest standards of safety and quality. This role installs, tests, and maintains avionics components and systems in accordance with engineering specifications, drawings, and maintenance manuals, and may occasionally act in a lead capacity to help ensure daily work plans are met and company goals are consistently achieved.

Responsibilities
  • Perform operational and functional testing of avionics and aircraft systems using established procedures and technical documentation.
  • Troubleshoot avionics and electrical system discrepancies to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Install electrical and avionics components and systems on aircraft in accordance with engineering specifications, drawings, and maintenance manuals to ensure defect-free installations.
  • Verify the quality, accuracy, and efficiency of all avionics and electrical installations and make process adjustments to improve repair quality and turnaround time.
  • Repair or replace defective avionics components, wiring, and assemblies to ensure installations meet all conformity and regulatory requirements.
  • Use approved repair techniques, including splicing, soldering, and pinning of wiring, following acceptable industry practices and company standards.
  • Implement and comply with engineering changes, service bulletins, and modifications as required on aircraft systems.
  • Set up and operate necessary avionics and electrical test equipment to perform system checks and diagnostics.
  • Conduct functional and operational tests on avionics and electrical systems to evaluate performance, reliability, and compliance with specifications.
  • Document all work performed on aircraft completely and accurately to ensure readiness for inspection and regulatory compliance.
  • Test, calibrate, and maintain test equipment, electronic systems, and components to ensure they remain in proper working condition.
  • Follow and support company programs including Foreign Object Debris (FOD) control, tool control, and 5S workplace organization.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures while working on aircraft and in the shop environment.
  • Adapt to sudden schedule changes and shifting priorities while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with peers, engineering, and inspection personnel to resolve complex technical issues and support on-time project completion.
Essential Skills
  • Four (4) years of experience in an avionics or electrical career field, or two (2) years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics plus two (2) years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated technical skills and expertise in avionics and aircraft systems operational testing and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with avionics installation, including mounting, wiring, and integrating electrical and electronic components and systems.
  • Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and working from blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
  • Ability to perform avionics repair, including diagnosis, removal, replacement, and adjustment of components and wiring.
  • Experience conducting avionics testing using appropriate test equipment and procedures to verify system performance and reliability.
  • Skill in wire harness installation, routing, termination, and inspection to ensure conformity and reliability.
  • Proficiency with acceptable wiring repair practices such as splicing, soldering, and pinning of wiring and connectors.
  • Ability to use and maintain avionics and electrical test equipment for system checks and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of avionics systems and aviation standards, including familiarity with regulatory and conformity requirements.
  • Ability to interpret and work with schematics and technical diagrams for complex avionics systems.
  • Valid drivers license (required).
  • Ability and willingness to work any shift as required by operational needs.
  • Capability to adapt quickly to schedule changes while maintaining focus on safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Accredited schooling in aviation electronics (two-year program) is highly beneficial when combined with related experience.
  • Experience working in aviation maintenance or production environments with exposure to avionics systems.
  • Familiarity with compliance programs such as Foreign Object Debris (FOD) control, tool control, and 5S.
  • Exposure to or understanding of industry standards and regulatory frameworks relevant to avionics and aircraft systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy to support inspections and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including engineering, inspection, and production.
  • Comfort working with technologies and concepts such as avionics troubleshooting, avionics systems integration, and avionics repair.

Work Environment

Work initially starts on a first-shift schedule, but you must be open to working any shift as operational needs change. You will use a variety of avionics and electrical test equipment, work from engineering drawings and maintenance manuals, and operate within structured programs such as FOD control, tool control, and 5S. Tools are provided on site, reducing the need for personal equipment and supporting consistent, standardized work practices. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, organization, and adherence to documented procedures while working on aircraft and electronic systems.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Savannah, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.19 - $32.19/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
