Job summary

Elliott Aviation in Moline, IL is seeking an Avionics Technician to perform inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and installation of avionics systems on business aircraft.

You will work with a team to ensure safety, reliability, and peak performance, following FARs and repair‑station procedures. This role requires precision, collaboration and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years related avionics installation experience.
  • Knowledge of FARs 43, 91, 135, 145.
  • Ability to work overtime and various shifts as business needs require.
  • Willingness to mentor junior technicians with a calm demeanor.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot and repair all avionics equipment and electrical systems on aircraft.
  • Complete installations, modifications, and upgrades of avionics components and wiring using approved data.
  • Interpret and apply manuals, wiring diagrams, and service bulletins to ensure compliance.
  • Document maintenance actions, test results, and traceability of parts.
  • Communicates with manager or crew chief on problems or repairs.
  • Ensure work is within project scope and inspected by a repair station inspector.
  • Learn and follow the company work order and parts requisition process.
  • Maintain tools and test devices in repair‑station standards.

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Avionics Technician is responsible for performing inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of avionics systems to ensure the safety, reliability, and optimal performance of business aircraft. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to regulatory standards. Working as part of a collaborative team, the Avionics Technician ensures all work is completed to the highest quality, supports a culture of safety and continuous improvement, and contributes to delivering an exceptional experience for aircraft owners, operators, and passengers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Inspect, troubleshoot and repair all avionics equipment and electrical systems on aircraft
  • Complete installations, modifications, and upgrades of avionics components and wiring using approved data
  • Interpret and apply technical manuals, wiring diagrams, engineering orders, and service bulletins to ensure compliance with all regulatory and repair station requirements
  • Document all maintenance actions clearly and accurately, including test results, corrective actions, and traceability of all parts used
  • Communicates with department manager or crew chief on any problems or repairs
  • Ensure all work performed is within the scope of the project and inspected by an authorized repair station inspector
  • Learns, understands and follows the company work order and parts requisition process as written
  • Maintain the security, calibration, and proper use of tools, equipment, and test devices in accordance with repair‑station requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years related avionics installation experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of FARs 43, 91, 135, 145
  • Ability to work overtime and various shifts as business needs require
  • Willingness to work on a team with both experienced technicians and mentor junior technicians with a calm demeanor
  • Ability to communicate well in straightforward situationsOrganizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, or procedural manuals
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and a desire to work
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience working on and troubleshooting aircraft avionics and airframe systems
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of FARs 43, 91, 135, 145.
  • Experience working with and repairing the following aircraft systems:
    • Autopilots, Flight Management Systems, Navigation and Communication Systems, EFIS, Aircraft Electrical Systems, Lighting, Pitot and Static Systems
  • Any bench repair capabilities preferred
  • A&P License/FCC License a plus

The base hourly range for this role is $35.00 USD - $50.00 USD. The pay range provided is a good faith estimate representative of experience levels. Specific compensation for this role will be determined by several factors including but not limited to; minimum and preferred qualifications, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience and location.
