Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced avionics technician in Los Angeles to perform maintenance on aircraft avionics and instrument systems. You will troubleshoot, repair, and replace wiring and components per manuals, while coordinating parts orders and documenting work in the system.

The role requires 3+ years in a Part 145 environment, a strong background in business aviation, and the ability to obtain FAA Repairman Certificate. Familiarity with CMP/CAMP is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years avionics experience in Part 145 environment.
  • Strong background in business aviation (Part 135 preferred).
  • Familiarity with Manufacturer's Manuals and Component Manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Follow Aircraft Maintenance Manual procedures and customers General Maintenance Manual.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, test, and replace avionics and instrument wiring and systems.
  • Order parts as needed to complete the job.
  • Act as Authorized Inspector as authorized.
  • Document work on work orders per approved data and procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of technical references and materials.
  • Troubleshoot discrepancies in avionics and aircraft systems.
  • Assist internal/external customers with technical requests.
  • Provide on-the-job training to less experienced technicians.
  • Accompany flight crews for in-flight troubleshooting and preflight evaluations.
  • Maintain avionics test equipment and workspace; operate ground support equipment.
  • Attend factory/company training and maintain training log.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the procedures outlined in the applicable Aircraft Maintenance Manual and customers General Maintenance Manual.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, tests, removes and replaces avionics and instrument wiring and systems installed in various airframes using hand tools, test equipment and technical documents.
  • Orders necessary parts to complete the job.
  • Acts as Authorized Inspector as authorized.
  • Enters description of work completed on the work order and properly documents removal and installation of aircraft parts and components according to approved data and company approved procedures.
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all technical reference materials needed to perform the job.
  • Performs troubleshooting and repair of discrepancies in avionics and instrument components and aircraft systems.
  • Responds to other technical requests from internal and external customers within area of expertise.
  • Provides OJT to less experienced technicians to ensure technician development and accurate work.
  • Accompanies flight crews to perform in-flight troubleshooting and adjustments and performs preflight evaluations of avionics and instrument systems.
  • Maintains avionics test equipment and work area as required.
  • Operates ground support equipment as necessary.
  • Attends factory and company technical training and participates in OJT to increase technical skills and proficiency.
  • Maintains training log and keeps it updated.
Requirements
  • 3+ Years of avionics experience in a Part 145 environment
  • Strong background in business aviation (Part 135 preferred)
  • Deep familiarity with A reference materials including Manufacturer's Maintenance Manuals, Illustrated Parts Catalogs, Component Manuals, etc.
  • Must have own tools necessary for the job
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills in the English language
  • Experience working with Gulfstream, Cessna, Embraer and Bombardier is preferred
  • Ability to manage high stress situations, sometimes multiple situations
  • Experience using CMP and CAMP maintenance tracking programs
  • Must be proficient in the operation of standard office equipment and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Driver’s License with no major infractions required
  • Ability to obtain FAA Repairman Certificate required, A&P License a plus
  • A complete set of tools designed for or appropriate for aircraft maintenance.
  • Completion of employment drug screening, FBI fingerprinting check and a 10‑year background check.
