Job summary

Varda Space Industries in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Spacecraft Systems Engineer II, Avionics to oversee the design, integration, and testing of avionics for the Winnebago Spaceship. You will ensure readiness for launch and reentry with a deep understanding of avionics design, manufacturing, and operational protocols.

You will collaborate across engineering teams, develop HITL testbeds, and drive verification plans to meet mission objectives while mentoring engineers and advancing testing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in system design, test planning, and validation.
• Proficiency in Python programming.
• Experience with power supplies, modular DAQ systems, RTD and 4-20mA devices, and general test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Define project scopes and guide designs from concept to prototype and production.
• Develop electrical architecture, system diagrams, and budgets for power, telemetry, channel count, size and mass.
• Analyze architecture for faults, create mitigation plans, and collaborate on FDIR when needed.
• Conduct verification plans for avionics systems on flight and HITL hardware for launch readiness.
• Mentor and train junior engineers to improve testing automation and practices.
