Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Washington is seeking an experienced Harness Design Engineer to lead electrical harness development for Mk1 vehicle modules. You will create wiring diagrams, 3D harness data, and installation drawings, ensuring safety and reliability for spaceflight.

The role demands strong CAD skills, a background in aerospace harnesses, and knowledge of relevant standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and support the build and test of flight

Qualifications

  • 10+ years designing aerospace wire harnesses.
  • Proficient in Creo, Zuken or Windchill CAD tools.
  • Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620A, NASA-STD-8739.4, SAE AS50881 and derating analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical harnesses for power, RF, and high-speed data.
  • Create wiring diagrams and 3D harness data in Creo.
  • Develop installation drawings and 2D flat harness views.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and report status.

In this role, you will develop wiring interconnect diagrams (WID), harness assembly drawings, and harness installation drawings. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.RESPONSIBILITIES:Design of electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication and high-speed data signalSelect harness components and hardware, connectors, backshells, cable and wireCreate Wiring diagrams utilizing Zuken E3Create 3D routed harness data files utilizing Creo (Pro/Engineer) CablingCreate harness detail and installation drawings including 2D flat harness drawings from the 3D harness data setsDesign and integration of harness support bracketsSupport design configuration development and trade studiesProvide technical guidance for hardware installationSupport the assembly and testing of cables and harnessesReport on activity schedule and technical statusIdentify opportunities for technical improvementsInformally mentor and train less experienced harness engineersQUALIFICATIONS:RequiredB.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Computer Engineering, or related technical subject area10+ years of experience designing Wire Harnesses for the Aerospace industryFamiliarity with Creo, Zuken or Windchill or experience with other high-end CAD routing software such as Unigraphics NX Electrical or CatiaUnderstanding and application of wire derating analysisWorking knowledge and experience applying harness design and manufacturing standards: IPC/WHMA-A-620A, NASA-STD-8739.4, SAE AS50881Strong electrical/mechanical design and integration skills using 3-D CAD softwareDesign for manufacturability experiencePreferred QualificationsProficiency with Creo, Zuken and WindchillKnowledge of harness fabrication and installation processesExperience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical/mechanical systemsExperience with GD&T and ASME drawing practicesBase Pay Range for:CA applicants is $156,802.00 - $219,522.45CO applicants is $144,179.00 - $201,849.90WA applicants is $156,802.00 - $219,522.45Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
