Job summary

Impulse Space in Redondo Beach is seeking an Avionics Manufacturing Engineer (Electromechanical assemblies). You will own the build and acceptance testing of electromechanical assemblies and work with cross-discipline teams to ensure manufacturability and reliability of systems destined for space.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of demonstrated experience in high-precision electromechanical manufacturing
• 4+ years of experience with acceptance testing of circuit boards and electromechanical assemblies, including vibration testing and TVAC
• Hands-on experience with hardware ATP, troubleshooting, and operation in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and assembly documentation
• Experience using NX and Teamcenter

Avionics Manufacturing Engineer (Electromechanical assemblies)

Description

As an Avionics Manufacturing Engineer at Impulse, you will work with cross-discipline teams to build electromechanical assemblies. You will own the build and acceptance testing of electromechanical assemblies in production. Your expertise will directly impact the reliability and performance of the systems we send into orbit and beyond.

Leveling will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes for electromechanical assemblies that include circuit boards, antennas, battery packs, reaction wheels and enclosures
• Collaborate with avionics design engineers to ensure manufacturability, DFM/DFA of electromechanical assemblies
• Collaborate with cross functional teams on quality and long-term reliability
• Provide day-to-day support for the production floor, resolving build issues, updating work instructions, and improving yield
• Provide guidance to electromechanical assembly technicians
• Own environmental and functional acceptance testing of electromechanical assembly (vibe, TVAC) in production
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot hardware acceptance testing (ATP) in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and assembly documentation

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors' degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field
• 4+ years of demonstrated experience in high-precision electromechanical manufacturing
• 4+ Experience with acceptance testing of circuit boards and electromechanical assemblies, including vibration testing, TVAC testing and software testing
• Hands-on experience with hardware ATP, troubleshooting, and operation in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and assembly documentation
• Experience using NX and Teamcenter

Preferred Skills and Experience

• MS/PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field
• 6+ years of demonstrated manufacturing experience in electromechanical manufacturing for space applications
• 6+ years of experience with acceptance testing of circuit boards and electromechanical assemblies in space applications
• Knowledge of thermal cycling, vibration testing and TVAC for space applications

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity.
