Job summary

Duncan Aviation is seeking an Avionics Line Maintenance Technician to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair avionics and instrumentation on various aircraft. The role involves wiring work, testing, and precise documentation in accordance with Duncan procedures.

Educational requirements include a high school diploma with avionics certification or related experience. Ability to work shifts, travel as needed, and lift up to 75 lbs is required; relocation assistance is available.

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace avionics and instrument wiring.
  • Perform basic checkout of avionics interfaces.
  • Document work descriptions on work orders following approved data and procedures.
  • Assist in resolving discrepancies and support in-flight troubleshooting when needed.

Job description

The Avionics Line Maintenance Technician, with moderate supervision, performs inspection, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, removal and replacement of aircraft instrument and avionics components and systems using various hand tools and test equipment to meet manufacturer's specifications, FAR's, industry standards and Duncan approved procedures in a safe and organized work area.

Essential Job Duties

1. With moderate supervision, inspects, performs basic troubleshooting, repairs, test, removes and replaces avionics and instrument wiring and systems installed in various airframes. Uses hand tools, test equipment and technical documents. Orders necessary parts to complete the job.

2. Performs basic checkout of aircraft systems that interface with avionics systems.

3. Enters description of work completed on the work order and properly documents removal and installation of aircraft parts and components according to approved data and Duncan approved procedures.

4. Assists bench technicians in the resolution of discrepancies in avionics and instrument components and systems removed from aircraft.

5. Accompanies flight crews to perform in-flight troubleshooting and adjustments and performs preflight evaluations of avionics and instrument systems.

6. Maintains and cleans line maintenance test equipment and work area as required. Operates ground support equipment as necessary.

7. Attends factory and company technical classes and participates in OJT to increase technical skills and proficiency. Maintains training log and keeps it updated.

8. Able to work all alternate shifts of the department as needed, and accomplish road trips within the United States and abroad as needed.

9. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Job Specific Requirements
  • Licenses/Certificates:Must have a valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record
  • Attendance:Regularly scheduled attendance required
  • Physical:Routinely lifts up to 50 lbs., occasionally up to 75 lbs.; read small print; identifies colors; repetitive motion; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet; tolerates products and materials associated with component maintenance; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting
  • Environmental:Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments
Education and Experience
Avionics Line Maintenance Technician I:
  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • One year related Avionics experience or Certification in Avionics required
Avionics Line Maintenance Technician II:
  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Two to three years related Avionics, Electronics, Airframe Maintenance or related experience required
Avionics Line Maintenance Technician III:
  • Associates degree or equivalent required
  • Minimum five years related Avionics, Electronics, Airframe Maintenance or related experience required
