Job summary

Duncan Aviation in Provo, UT is seeking an Avionics Line Maintenance Technician I-III. Responsibilities include inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and testing avionics and instrument systems on various airframes, with potential in-flight troubleshooting under supervision.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, and relevant avionics experience or certification. Positions require ability to travel for road trips within the United States and abroad and to work different

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year related Avionics or Electronics experience or Certification required.
  • Two to three years related Avionics, Electronics, Airframe Maintenance or related experience required for Technician II.
  • Associates degree or equivalent required for Technician III.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, test, remove and replace avionics and instrument wiring and systems.
  • Perform basic checkout of aircraft systems interfacing with avionics systems.
  • Document work performed on work orders and record removal/installation data according to approved procedures.
  • Assist bench technicians in resolving discrepancies in avionics components and systems.
  • Accompany flight crews for in-flight troubleshooting and preflight evaluations of avionics systems.
  • Operate and maintain line maintenance test equipment and perform required training.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
1 year related Avionics or Electronics experience or Certification
Associates degree or equivalent
Minimum five years related Avionics, Electronics, Airframe Maintenance or related experience

Job description

The Avionics Line Maintenance Technician, with moderate supervision, performs inspection, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, removal and replacement of aircraft instrument and avionics components and systems using various hand tools and test equipment to meet manufacturer's specifications, FAR's, industry standards and Duncan approved procedures in a safe and organized work area.

Essential Job Duties
  1. With moderate supervision, inspects, performs basic troubleshooting, repairs, test, removes and replaces avionics and instrument wiring and systems installed in various airframes. Uses hand tools, test equipment and technical documents. Orders necessary parts to complete the job.
  2. Performs basic checkout of aircraft systems that interface with avionics systems.
  3. Enters description of work completed on the work order and properly documents removal and installation of aircraft parts and components according to approved data and Duncan approved procedures.
  4. Assists bench technicians in the resolution of discrepancies in avionics and instrument components and systems removed from aircraft.
  5. Accompanies flight crews to perform in-flight troubleshooting and adjustments and performs preflight evaluations of avionics and instrument systems.
  6. Maintains and cleans line maintenance test equipment and work area as required. Operates ground support equipment as necessary.
  7. Attends factory and company technical classes and participates in OJT to increase technical skills and proficiency. Maintains training log and keeps it updated.
  8. Able to work all alternate shifts of the department as needed, and accomplish road trips within the United States and abroad as needed.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Job Specific Requirements
  • Licenses/Certificates: Must have a valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record
  • Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required
  • Physical: Routinely lifts up to 50 lbs., occasionally up to 75 lbs.; read small print; identifies colors; repetitive motion; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet; tolerates products and materials associated with component maintenance; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting
  • Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments
Education and Experience
Avionics Line Maintenance Technician I
  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • One year related Avionics or Electronics experience or Certification in Avionics, Electronics Technology, Airframe Maintenance or related field required
Avionics Line Maintenance Technician II
  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Two to three years related Avionics, Electronics, Airframe Maintenance or related experience required
Avionics Line Maintenance Technician III
  • Associates degree or equivalent required
  • Minimum five years related Avionics, Electronics, Airframe Maintenance or related experience required
