Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an Avionics Integration & Test Technician to work on cutting-edge technologies for space exploration. The technician will be responsible for reading schematics, performing tests on electronic components, and assembling high-quality wire harnesses.

Qualified candidates should have a high school diploma and experience in manufacturing wire harnesses. This full-time role involves availability for all shifts, with additional requirements for physical capabilities in elevated heights.

Qualifications

AVIONICS INTEGRATION & TEST TECHNICIAN (STARSHIP)
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Read, interpret, and work from released schematics and drawings as well as from uncontrolled documentation. Interpret design intent and provide feedback to engineering to complete documentation.
  • Perform validation and testing of various electronic components using equipment such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and test racks.
  • Perform integration on a full system suite of electronics to include on-vehicle, ground segment, and ground support applications.
  • Document results in a clear, precise, and complete manner.
  • Assemble and repair high quality wire harnesses, test racks, junction boxes, and associated components.
  • Support the development of avionics hardware and procedural improvements via design, test, fabrication, and work instruction efforts. Self‑monitor progress and achieve on‑time delivery of all work.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 1+ years of experience manufacturing wire harnesses or electro‑mechanical sub‑assemblies.
  • 1+ years of experience using electronics equipment (e.g. DMMs, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, power supplies, DAQs, etc.).
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in aerospace, aviation, military, or other high‑reliability industry.
  • Skill in operating and manipulating machinery and various hand and power tools requiring manual dexterity.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments.
  • Prior or current IPC‑A‑620, NASA 8739‑4, J‑STD‑001, or SpaceX AV1200‑4 certifications.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics theory and principles.
  • Experience drafting or modeling in a 3D environment.
  • Experience using schematic capture applications.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools including Confluence and JIRA.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent concentration and attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracy.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights.
  • Some traveling will be necessary - 10%
  • Stand: Up to 10 hours per day.
  • Sit: Up to 10 hours per day.
  • Push/Pull: Up to 50lbs. (unassisted) 15 minutes or less per day.
  • Overhead reach: Up to 3 hours per day.
  • Walk: Up to 3 hours per day.
  • Lift/Carry: Up to 25lbs. (unassisted) 15 minutes or less per day.
  • Climb (ladder/stairs): Up to 3 hours per day.
  • Kneel/Crouch: Up to 3 hours per day.
  • Upper body twist: Up to 6 hours per day.
  • Ability to work in temperatures over 80 degrees up to 30 minutes or less per day.
  • Candidate must be capable of safely working with high voltage and performing the physical requirements of the job listed in the job description.
  • Candidate may be required to complete a pre‑employment questionnaire and/or physical to confirm these capabilities, which may include a medical history review.
