Job summary

Castelion is seeking an Avionics Harness Technician for its Torrance, CA facility. You will support development and production of avionics harnesses, test equipment, and related electrical hardware, reporting to the Manager, R&D Operations.

The role requires hands-on assembly, wiring, diagnostic testing, and adherence to engineering documentation in a fast-paced environment. Occasional travel and extended hours may be necessary; located in California, USA.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in avionics technician, harness assembly, or related hands-on work.
• Experience building wire harnesses and cable assemblies.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and harness drawings.
• Experience with crimping, soldering, connector assembly, and harness routing.
• Experience with continuity, insulation resistance and HiPot testing.
• Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 or equivalent workmanship standards.
• Ability to follow work instructions and controlled documentation.
• Experience in an ESD-controlled manufacturing environment.

Avionics Harness Technician

Castelion is looking for an Avionics Harness Technician, reporting to the Manager, R&D Operations, to support the development and production of systems required for long-range hypersonic strike vehicles. This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Torrance, California facility.

Responsibilities

• Build wire harnesses, cable assemblies, electro-mechanical units, and test equipment
• Perform wire preparation, stripping, crimping, soldering, shielding, splicing, labeling, lacing, and connector assembly
• Assemble, integrate, and test avionics harnesses, electrical hardware, and support equipment
• Perform continuity, insulation resistance, and high potential (HiPot) testing as required
• Execute manufacturing and test processes according to work instructions, drawings, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation
• Support development builds, prototype builds, and transition into initial production
• Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, assembly drawings, and controlled documentation
• Identify build issues and elevate discrepancies to engineering or manufacturing leadership
• Support process improvement initiatives focused on quality, repeatability, and efficiency
• Maintain a clean, organized, and ESD-compliant work environment
• Monitor work progress against schedules and support production priorities as needed

Basic Qualifications

• 2+ years of avionics technician, harness assembly, electronics manufacturing, or related hands-on assembly experience
• Experience building wire harnesses and cable assemblies
• Experience reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness drawings
• Experience performing crimping, soldering, connector assembly, and harness routing
• Experience performing continuity, insulation resistance, and HiPot testing on electrical harnesses or assemblies
• Experience working with IPC/WHMA-A-620 or equivalent workmanship standards
• Familiarity with avionics, electrical, or electro-mechanical assembly processes
• Ability to follow work instructions, engineering drawings, and controlled documentation
• Strong attention to detail and workmanship quality
• Experience working in an ESD-controlled manufacturing environment
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced development and production environment

Preferred Skills And Experience

• Experience in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industries
• Experience building flight harnesses, prototype harnesses, or test systems
• Experience with shield termination, backshell assembly, splicing, lacing, and harness strain relief
• Experience using harness test equipment such as Cirris or equivalent systems
• Familiarity with manufacturing documentation and configuration-controlled environments
• Experience supporting engineering development builds and rapid iteration efforts
• Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as JIRA and Confluence
• Basic understanding of electronic troubleshooting and diagnosticsStrong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and evolving hardware designs

Additional Requirements

• Must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed
• Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time
