Job summary

Strategic Support Solutions is seeking avionics installers to retrofit, wire, and integrate Garmin G1000/G5000 flight decks on general aviation and corporate airframes. You will perform panel modifications, harness routing, and post-install testing under FAA guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Experience 3–5 years in avionics installation on GA/corporate aircraft.
  • Hands-on Garmin G1000/G1000NXi and/or G5000 installations (GTN 650/750 also valued).
  • Read and work from electrical schematics, wire prints, and STC drawings.
  • Proficient wiring: crimping, stripping, shielding, routing harnesses.
  • Experience with Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 or Pro Line Fusion is a plus.
  • Provide own set of aviation hand tools and specialized tooling.
  • Familiarity with FAA Part 43, 91, 145 and AC 43.13-1B/2B.

Responsibilities

  • Garmin Suite Installation: Install, wire, and integrate Garmin G1000/G5000 systems and GTN series.
  • Harness Fabrication & Wiring: Build and test complex electrical harnesses per FAA standards.
  • Panel & Console Modifications: Modify panels to fit new displays, breakers, and units.
  • System Integration & Testing: Post-install checks, ground tests, pitot-static and software config.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose squawks and power distribution faults in new and legacy airframes.
  • Legacy Interfacing: Integrate Garmin with Rockwell Collins Pro Line systems where applicable.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain records and sign-offs per FAA regulations and manuals.

Salary Range: $31.00 To $36.00 Hourly

Strategic Support Solutions is seeking skilled and detail-oriented Avionics Garmin Installers specializing in Garmin G1000 and/or G5000 integrated flight deck suites. In this role, you will perform full-suite retrofits, line installations, wiring harness fabrication, and system integrations on general aviation and corporate airframes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Garmin Suite Installation: Install, mount, wire, and integrate Garmin G1000 and/or G5000 integrated flight deck suites, standard Garmin navigators (GTN series), and associated remote LRUs.
  • Harness Fabrication & Wiring: Build, route, terminate, and test complex electrical wiring harnesses, including high-speed data buses, coax lines, shield terminations, and multi‑pin connectors in compliance with FAA standards.
  • Panel & Console Modifications: Modify cockpit instrument panels, subpanels, and console structural elements to accommodate new displays, circuit breakers, switches, and remote units.
  • System Integration & Testing: Perform comprehensive post-installation functional testing, ground checks, pitot‑static and RVSM leak checks, ramp testing, and software/database configurations.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve squawks, auto‑flight interface anomalies, and electrical power distribution faults across new installations and legacy airframe systems.
  • Legacy Interfacing: Support integration of Garmin equipment with existing legacy aircraft systems, including Rockwell Collins Pro Line platforms where applicable.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all maintenance, modification records, and return‑to‑service sign‑offs comply strictly with FAA regulations, customer specifications, and repair station quality manuals.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience Level: Minimum of 3–5 years of avionics installation experience on general aviation and/or corporate/business jet aircraft.
  • Garmin Expertise: Demonstrated hands‑on installation and checkout experience with Garmin G1000 / G1000NXi and/or Garmin G5000 flight decks (GTN 650/750 series experience also valued).
  • Technical Literacy: Advanced ability to read, interpret, and work directly from electrical schematics, engineering wire prints, Garmin installation manuals, and STC installation drawings.
  • Wiring Craftsmanship: Proven expertise in precision crimping, pin insertion/extraction, wire stripping, shield splicing, harness looming, and routing techniques.
  • Legacy Avionics Knowledge: Prior experience integrating with Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 or Pro Line Fusion systems is a strong plus.
  • Tools: Must provide own complete set of standard aviation hand tools and specialized avionics tooling (wire strippers, calibrated crimpers, pin extractors, digital multimeters).
  • Regulations: Strong familiarity with FAA Part 43, 91, and 145 standards, as well as AC 43.13-1B/2B practices.
