The Applied Systems Laboratory (ASL) Systems Integration Division (SID) supports systems integration, design, and product development projects for the Department of Defense (DoD). SID specializes in military systems including avionics, electronic warfare, autonomous systems, intelligence systems, tactical communication/datalink systems, and training solutions. Engineering roles include Systems Engineering, Algorithm Engineering, Datalink Engineering, and Embedded Software Engineering.
The Avionics Engineer defines and designs military avionic systems and systems-of-systems, including integrated system-level designs, hardware, and software subsystems. Responsibilities encompass avionics functions such as navigation, tactical data links, electronic warfare, defensive countermeasures, intelligence, and data fusion. The engineer applies knowledge related to aircraft safety standards, security, robustness, and performance, and analyzes laboratory and flight test data. The role involves providing technical leadership throughout the development lifecycle and using tools like Model-Based System Engineering and Agile methodologies.
