SUMMARYThe Professional, Engineering - Avionics / Integrated Modular Avionics is responsible for supporting the design, development, integration, validation, and certification of highly integrated avionics control systems and distributed integrated modular architectures. This position works within the Avionics Center of Excellence to evaluate current and emerging flight deck technologies, define architecture requirements, support IMA application development and testing, and provide technical recommendations that enable efficient aircraft systems integration.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSDevelop knowledge and technical expertise related to Highly Integrated Control Systems and Distributed Integrated Modular ArchitecturesSupport OEM requirement capture for IMA System Architecture, IMA Platforms, and Hosted FunctionsDefine roles and responsibilities associated with the IMA System Integrator, IMA Application Provider, and IMA Platform ProviderApply DO-297 guidelines to support IMA development, safety, and certification plans in collaboration with internal stakeholders and suppliersUse integrated tool chains provided by the platform provider to build and test IMA applications using virtual test benches and hardware-in-the-loop environmentsDevelop and implement methodologies and procedures to ensure architectures support safety, security, certification, and end-user requirementsDefine standards for validation, verification, and functional testingCollaborate with project leadership to communicate progress, design evolution, risks, issues, and roadblocksProvide technical direction and recommendations during design reviews covering hardware, software, data network architecture, and development processesAdvise the organization on the impact of new regulations affecting avionics architectureInterface with advanced design groups, discipline knowledge owners, fellows, suppliers, and engineering stakeholders to support technology alignment and knowledge sharingPrepare technical documentation and reports capturing analyses, requiredExperience working with DO-297, AC 20-170, TSO-C153, and TSO-C214 guidelines requiredExperience with requirements development, validation, flow down, traceability, technical documentation, and design review support requiredExperience with embedded real-time operating systems, such as VxWorks 653, critical real-time embedded systems, or distributed systems is an assetUnderstanding of aircraft systems integration, ground and flight test activities, component qualification, reliability, safety requirements, and FAR Part 25 / CAR 525 certification processes is preferredWORKING
