Avionics/Electrical Technician Lead - 2nd Shift

Location: GAC Savannah

Preferred experience with Gulfstream G500 / G600 or G700 / G800 live aircraft.

Education and Experience Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required. Eight (8) years of experience in aircraft avionics/electrical field; or two (2) years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics and six (6) years related experience. Two (2) years experience on large/mid-size aircraft preferred. Other licenses such as Airframe and Powerplant (A&P), FCC, or NCATT Certification are preferred or must be obtainable.

Position Purpose

Plans and coordinates all electrical/avionics activities, providing customers with updates on aircraft schedules, repairs, parts, and components shipped to vendors. Collaborates with hangar management to schedule activities and meet aircraft requirements.

Job Description
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Plans, schedules, and completes work on authorized tasks, providing daily status reports to management.
  2. Coordinates electrical and avionics efforts to meet schedules and deadlines, ensuring compliance with manuals, procedures, and FARs.
  3. Supervises and instructs technicians, providing technical guidance and performance feedback.
  4. Reviews daily job charges for accuracy.
  5. Maintains preventive maintenance programs for tools and equipment.
  6. Keeps current with aircraft service changes, bulletins, inspection requirements, and other relevant procedures.
  7. Supervises safety programs in the hangar, including equipment operation and housekeeping.
  8. Maintains logs and records as required.
  9. Enforces safety, FOD, and tool control programs.
  10. Adapts to schedule changes and coordinates with other disciplines.
Additional Functions
  1. Fosters innovation and lean thinking environments.
  2. Supports aircraft certification and testing, including flight tests if required.
Other Requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, troubleshooting, and maintenance records.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting various aircraft systems beyond avionics.
  • Ability to interpret electrical/avionics drawings and blueprints.
  • Leadership skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and execute tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office and general IT literacy.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Skill in using hand tools and avionics testing equipment.
