Job summary

The Hillsboro School District invites applications for an AVID Tutor to empower middle and high school students in academic organization and college readiness. You will lead small group AVID tutorials, aligned with school schedules, and receive paid training and ongoing guidance from district leaders.

The role supports first-generation and underrepresented students through structured instruction and mentoring.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled college student is required.
• Strong communication skills and a passion for mentoring students toward college aspirations.
• Ability to assist students with organizational skills (binders, planners, note-taking).
• Commitment to a consistent tutoring schedule and tracking academic progress.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate small group AVID tutoring sessions during the school day.
• Coordinate Tues–Thu availability to match AVID Elective Class schedules.
• Provide training and support from Hillsboro School District educators.
• Track student progress and report outcomes to the AVID program.

Job Highlights

• Facilitate small group tutorial sessions during the school day to empower first-generation and underrepresented students in their college readiness journey.
• Days of the week may vary due to school schedules, but we are looking for Tues-Thurs availability and scheduling. Attempts will be made to match the applicant's schedule with AVID Elective Class schedules, and some training will be provided.
• Gain valuable classroom and instructional experience.
• Benefit from paid training and ongoing support from HSD educational leaders.
• $16.80 per hour.
