Job Description - AVID Teacher/Coach (Grades: 9-12) (RTP20250514-033)

Job Title: AVID Teacher/Coach (Grades: 9-12)

Description: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Assist and support the building principal to ensure the on-site administration, execution of the district's educational programs, policies, regulations, and quality instruction in a safe and healthy environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the district's curriculum, maintaining written evidence of preparation.
  2. Prepare lessons accommodating different student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter following guidelines from the Texas Education Agency, Board policies, and regulations.
  4. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior.
  5. Implement a student evaluation system within legal and district guidelines.
  6. Evaluate and record student progress, reporting to parents as needed.
  7. Teach within the prescribed course of study for the subject and grade level.
  8. Plan lessons leading to subject area objectives, including written plans for substitutes.
  9. Use diverse media and methods to motivate students and optimize instruction time.
  10. Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
  11. Offer counseling to students and parents before and after school.
  12. Participate in community outreach activities like open house and PTA meetings.
  13. Coordinate work of aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers when applicable.
  14. Collaborate with the principal on evaluation systems following district guidelines.
  15. Maintain accurate student records and complete all required reports and documents.
  16. Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Physical Demands:

Requires sitting, handling objects, talking, hearing, reaching, standing, walking, and lifting up to 10 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision.

Work Environment:

Moderate noise level. District-wide travel is necessary. Remote work is not an option due to the need for regular attendance at the campus.

Qualifications:
